Textile Recycling International (TRI), the UK’s leading textile reuse group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Orye as its new Group Chief Executive Officer.
Michael joined TRI earlier this year and has since worked closely with the leadership team to strengthen operations across the Group. With extensive experience in international manufacturing and circular industries, he brings a strong focus on operational excellence, collaboration and sustainable growth.
“TRI has a proud history in textile reuse and a dedicated team committed to doing things the right way,” says Michael Orye, Group CEO, TRI. “Our focus now is on building on this foundation - ensuring quality at every step, strengthening partnerships across the value chain, and preparing the business for the next phase of the UK’s circular textile economy.”
The UK textile industry is entering a decisive phase as the Government advances plans to expand the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and introduce Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles. These developments will redefine how materials are valued, managed and accounted for, and TRI is positioning itself to play a key role in that transition.
“A well-structured EPR system has the potential to bring long-term stability and transparency to the sector,” Michael continues. “We believe this is a necessary evolution for the UK, one that will support both environmental and commercial sustainability if implemented in close partnership between industry and government.”
Building on its strong operational base, TRI is focused on strengthening its UK platform to meet future demand and regulatory requirements. Through close collaboration with partners across the value chain, the company aims to help shape a more efficient, transparent and high-quality reuse system that supports the UK’s circular economy transition.
